Are all PUR filters the same?
Generic filters may fit in your PUR faucet system, pitcher and dispenser, but only Genuine PUR Filters are certified to reduce chemical and physical contaminants when used with PUR water filtration systems. We believe great water should never be taken for granted.
How long does a PUR filter last?
A PUR filter replacement should be installed every 100 gallons or approximately every two to three months. An indicator on the filter housing alerts you when the filter needs to be changed. To change the filter, remove the housing cap, pull out the old filter and install the new filter in the same direction.
How long do you run water through a new PUR filter?
To use your filter, turn the black lever down and only run COLD water through the filter at all times. When you use your filter for the first time ONLY, run cold water for five minutes. After that, your filter is ready for use whenever you turn on your faucet.
Why is my new PUR filter still red?
Your PUR water filter still blinks red after you changed the filter because of dirt particles trapped on the filter. When your PUR water filter completes filtering 100 gallons of water, it will blink red. If you just replaced the system’s filter unit, the blink is a false alarm.
When you’ve used your Pur water filter for some time, the light indicator will eventually start blinking yellow. The yellow light comes on after the water filter has had a good run, which is after filtering more than 100 gallons of water.
Why is my PUR filter not working?
PUR filters may be slow because of air blockages, high sediment levels, hot water or mineral damage, incorrect installation or an old filter. The PUR MineralClear® filter may also result in longer filtration times than the basic filter because of greater contaminant reduction.
Does PUR faucet filter have a battery?
A non-replaceable battery is in the filter change light. The filter is still functional even though the battery is going to stop working eventually.
Does Pur fit all faucets?
Answer: Our systems fit most standard faucets. Pull-out and handheld faucets are not compatible with our systems.
What happens if you run hot water through a PUR filter?
Yes you can ru hot water through the Pur Filter, however doing so will greatly decrease the life of the filter. Hot water should not be filtered as it is not for drinking-and if for cooking-the high temperatures created via the oven or stove top will kill most any bacteria anyways.
